On September 22, 2021, the band released the third single “Pneumonia” and revealed it was written exactly one year prior to release. The single was also partly inspired by the passing of guitarist Tim McTague’s father. Voyeurist was released on January 14, 2022. On March 28, 2023, guitarist James Smith was kicked out of the band after a 20-year tenure with the group. Underoath cited the reason for Smith’s ouster being “differences that they weren’t able to work out.”
