Malmsteen joined Alcatrazz , featuring former Rainbow and MSG vocalist Graham Bonnet and members of New England and the Alice Cooper Band, recording the No Parole from Rock ‘n’ Roll and Live Sentence albums, before embarking on a successful solo career with his own band Rising Force in 1984. He received a nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance at the 1986 Grammy Awards for his debut album .
