I maj og juni 2008 spillede Metallica til flere festivaler, hvor de også stod som overskrifter til Electric Weekend i Spanien , Pinkpop festivalen in Holland , Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivalerne i Tyskland og Rock In Rio festivalen i Portugal .
