In November 2016, Pink Floyd released a box set, The Early Years 1965–1972 , comprising outtakes, live recordings, remixes, and films from their early career.
Although both “Scream Thy Last Scream” and “Vegetable Man” circulated widely on bootleg recordings for decades, they remained officially unreleased until their inclusion on the box set The Early Years 1965–1972 in 2016.
As of 2016, the group are on hiatus, with Leary saying: “I just don’t want to play live anymore. It’s not fun, I don’t like touring. That hour on stage is a whole lot of fun, but the other 23 hours off stage just fucking suck.”
Former Butterfly keyboardist Larry Rust died peacefully at his home near Los Angeles on November 25, 2016, at the age of 63. Founding bassist Greg Willis died on November 11, 2016. A tribute concert was staged November 30 at Nicky Rottens in El Cajon.
