On June 16 2012, just an hour before gates were due to open at Downsview Park in Toronto for Radiohead’s final North American tour concert, disaster struck – the roof of the venue’s temporary stage collapsed, killing Radiohead’s drum tech ,Scott Johnson and injuring three other crew members. The whole North American tour had to be rescheduled as a result. Radiohead paid tribute to Johnson a couple of months later at a concert in Nîmes France. By 2013, Live Nation Canada had been charged with, among others, 13 counts of breaching Ontario health and safety laws – but in the autumn of 2017 that case was dropped due to the sorts of delays the Jordan ruling is designed to avoid. Radiohead released a statement strongly condemning the decision to drop the charges. A 2019 inquest ultimately concluded that Johnson’s death had been an accident .
