In March 2010, Pink Floyd went to the High Court of Justice to prevent EMI selling individual tracks online, arguing that their 1999 contract “prohibits the sale of albums in any configuration other than the original”. The judge ruled in their favour, which the Guardian described as a “triumph for artistic integrity” and a “vindication of the album as a creative format”.
