By April 2016 during the week leading up to Record Store Day of which the band were the ambassador for that particular year , Ulrich was telling Billboard that the bands new role within the music industry was partly to blame for the amount of time it was taking to get the album done. “Things are just a lot more complicated these days” he said. The good news was that he reckoned production of the album was all but complete “unless something major happens I cant see it not coming out this year”
