Following a world tour in 2025, celebrating 20 years of Silent Alarm and 25 years as a band, Okereke confirmed the band were working on their seventh album with producer Trevor Horn . The album was officially announced in May 2026 with the title Anatomy of a Brief Romance , with Okereke describing it as a concept album covering both the end of his long-term relationship and the start of a new one. The album’s lead single, “Coming On Strong”, was shared the same day.
