The Who announced in 2005 that they were working on a new album.
Their third album, Leaders of the Free World , was released in 2005. It was self-produced at Blueprint Studios in Salford, a studio the band hired for the sessions. They teamed up with video artists The Soup Collective to produce an integrated music and video DVD.
In 2005, the band won five Swedish Grammis awards in the categories Artist of the Year, Rock Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Producer of the Year (with collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt), while the video for “Walk Idiot Walk” won the MTV Best Music Video award.
