During their summer 2016 tour, the band released new shirt designs which read “2000–2018”. One of them was projected onto the stage after the band’s set at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver on June 2, increasing speculation that Brand New planned to break up in 2018.
On June 2, 2016, a song titled “Bad Vibrations” was released, alongside a music video. It was also announced that the song would be the title track of their sixth album, Bad Vibrations . The album was released on their independent label and Epitaph Records .
In June 2016, Brand New began a co-headlining United States tour with Modest Mouse , which included a stop at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden .
Their final performance was on 21 May.
Due to Shai Hulud being unable to make the rearranged dates, Raging Speedhorn and Creeper played as the main support bands on 20 and 21 May respectively.
On May 17, 2016, Brand New released another new single, ” I Am a Nightmare “, which was released to acclaim including a “Best New Track” honor from Pitchfork .
On 22 April 2016, the band performed a live concert with an orchestra conducted by Simon Dobson at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

On March 29, 2016, Lucas announced on WKQX that the band would celebrate the 20th anniversary of As Good As Dead by playing shows where they perform the entire AGAD album with original drummer Joe Daniels in addition to other songs with Harding on drums.
