Bass player Arthur Grant died on the 31st August 2026.
In April 2026 Max Carl announced his departure from Grand Funk Railroad for medical reasons after 26 years, with the band continuing its touring with founding member drummer Don Brewer and keyboardist Tim Cashion handling the vocal duties.
Mike Pinera died on November 20, 2024, of liver cancer, aged 76. Pinera was the last surviving member of the Iron Butterfly lineup that performed on Metamorphosis .
On October 19, 2024 a reunited Iron Butterfly headlined the HRH Prog14 festival with a lineup that included Eric Barnett, Bernie Pershey, Jawn Star (keyboards, vocals, formerly with Player ) and Dave Wishton (bass, vocals). This was their first performance since 2021.
Doug Ingle died on May 24, 2024, at the age of 78. He was the last surviving member of the classic Iron Butterfly lineup that performed on the In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album.

having played his final concert with the group on December 14, 2023, in Marietta, Ohio, citing that he wanted to focus on other projects.
Vergeat went on a solo career, releasing many albums over the years. He then formed and toured with his own band, the Vic Vergeat Band. He died on 1 November 2023 from an undisclosed cause. The other former members went on to other groups or retired from the music business.
