With the onset of the global pandemic in 2020, and ill health within the group, the remaining band members decided to retire from all live performances.
They toured Japan and South Korea in January 2020
In December 2019, Muse released Origin of Muse , a box set comprising remastered versions of Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry plus previously unreleased material. For the 20th anniversary of Origin of Symmetry in June 2021, Muse released a remixed and remastered version, Origin of Symmetry: XX Anniversary RemiXX .
It was followed in December 2019 by The Later Years , compiling Pink Floyd’s work after Waters’s departure. It includes a remixed version of A Momentary Lapse of Reason with more contributions by Wright and Mason, and an expanded reissue of the 1988 live album Delicate Sound of Thunder .
It premiered on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ YouTube channel on 3 October.
On 23 September 2019, Cave formally announced the album Ghosteen , to be released at the beginning of October 2019.
Fear Inoculum was launched on August 30 and became Tool’s third U.S. number one.
On August 2, 2019, Tool’s discography (with the exception of Salival ) became available on music streaming platforms.
