The band’s profile soared following a performance at the Lollapalooza festival in mid-1993 tour; sales of Rage Against the Machine in the United States increased from 75,000 before Lollapalooza, to 400,000 by the end of the year. The band also toured with Suicidal Tendencies in Europe, and House of Pain . By April 1996, the album had sold over 1 million copies in the United States and 3 million copies worldwide. It was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in May 2000. It appears in every edition of Rolling Stone ‘ s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, with the most recent being in 2020 at its highest position, 221.
