released Pablo Honey

Pablo Honey was released in February 1993. It somehow managed to scrape its way up to number 22 in the UK chart. The singles “Creep”, “Anyone Can Play Guitar” and “Stop Whispering” didnt quite have the impact we wanted, and the non-album single “Pop Is Dead” tanked pretty badly. Years later O’Brien made the rather candid admission that Pablo Honey was a right old mess. Radiohead got lumped in with the grunge bands who were all the rage back in the early 1990s, despite their protestations to the contrary – some critics even lazily tagged them as “Nirvana-lite”, and Pablo Honey didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Radiohead themselves werent too keen on the album by the time much later came around.
