The first incarnation of the band in 1980 consisted of then-15-year-old Chris Doherty , Mike Dean, and Bill Manley, who contributed seven tracks to the This Is Boston, Not L.A. compilation in 1982, and one track to the follow-up Unsafe at Any Speed EP, also in 1982. Throughout that year the band played man shows in Massachusetts along with Washington, D.C. , New York and New Jersey . Opening for bands such as S.S. Decontrol , Bad Brains and The Misfits .
