During the initial writing and recording period of White Teeth, Black Thoughts , the Daddies began playing select shows billed as “The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies Salute the Music of the Rat Pack “, playing an equal mix of the band’s own swing songs as well as covers of songs popularized by the “Rat Pack” of Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. In a July 2013 interview with Billboard magazine, Perry revealed that the band had concurrently recorded a tribute album featuring these songs and would be releasing it after touring behind White Teeth, Black Thoughts .
