In 2024, Suede and the Manic Street Preachers performed a series of double-header concerts in the UK, alternating who performed first. During these gigs, Anderson announced that Suede was working on a new album, with the working title *X*. On 19 May 2025, they announced Antidepressants as the official title for their tenth studio album. The band revealed that they took some inspiration in the post-punk genre once again. Oakes explained: “My teenage influences – Keith Levene [of Public Image Ltd ], John McGeoch [of Siouxsie and the Banshees ], the Fall , Wire – didn’t really have a place in the writing in the early years” but “suddenly I felt it did have a place” in Autofiction and Antidepressants . Preceded by the singles “Disintegrate”, “Trance State”, and “Dancing with the Europeans”, Antidepressants was released on 5 September 2025 through BMG , subsequently reaching number two in the UK Albums Chart . The following year, the album was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize , their third nomination overall after their debut and Coming Up .
